Rita Azzalini Bisaro

Rita Azzalini Bisaro, 96, of Allen Park, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022. She joined her beloved husband of 67 years, Feruccio (Fred) M. Bisaro, who passed away on January 25th, 2018. Rita and Fred were devoted parents to five children, Dave (Debbie), Fred (Lynn), John (Joy), Paul (Kathy) and Rita (Ian), and enjoyed the love of 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren (so far). Rita Azzalini was born December 27th, 1925 in Mezzavilla di Fregona, Italy, and came to America to join her father at the age of 12 with her mother and sister. She was always very proud of her Cimbri clan heritage. Rita graduated from Southwestern High School in Detroit, Michigan and married Fred Bisaro, a World War II veteran, on October 28, 1950. While Fred worked for the Ford Motor Company for 42 years, Rita worked as a florist during the early years of their marriage, and her love of flowers and legendary green thumb are evident in the beautiful rose bushes and tulips surrounding their home. She loved books and worked in the Media Center at Lindemann Elementary School in Allen Park for many years, and was also known as the Art Lady because she introduced so many school children to the world of classical art. Rita and Fred were dedicated Allen Park High School Band Parents for many years as well. In their later years, they volunteered at the All Saints Catholic Church soup kitchen where Fred served as head chef for more than a decade. They also enjoyed traveling, taking numerous camping trips across the United States with their children and visiting their native Italy with family. Most of all, Rita will be remembered for her tremendous love and devotion to her family and her ability to make everyone her friend. Her infectious energy and personality lit up the room. She was kind and fun, and was “Nonna Rita” to many more than just her own grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, January 16th from 3:00-9:00pm at Martenson Funeral Home in Allen Park. On Monday, January 17th, she will lie in state from 9:00-10:00am at St. Cyprian Church, 13249 Pennsylvania Rd, Riverview. A funeral mass will follow beginning at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Cyprian’s Food Pantry or the charity of your choice.
