Robert Charles Soncrant, 81, passed away at home in Monroe, MI on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. He was born December 29, 1944 in Monroe MI, the son of Donald and Norma (Ewing) Soncrant. A graduate of the class of 1963 from Monroe High School, Bob excelled at most sports. In November of 1962, his junior year, he broke the record for the most place kicks in a season with 22 out of 27 tries. After high school Bob went on to do a year at Cleary College which helped to secure his roll of Maintenance Clerk at Ford Motor Co. During his first years at Ford Bob joined the Army National Guard at the Flat Rock Nike Missile Base and was Honorably discharged in August of 1971. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked to say he’d been to 48 of the 50 states. He loved all music and could always be heard singing. Bob loved life. He loved everything about it and lived it to the fullest.

He married Mary Lou Billock on May 8, 1970. Together they enjoyed traveling, gambling, golfing and spending time with their family. When he was 30 he was elected President of the State Lodge Associate membership of the Fraternal Order of Police for a 2 year term.
At 48, Bob retired from the Monroe Chassis Division of Ford Motor Co after 30 years as the Maintenance Clerk. He was affectionately known for remembering everyone’s employee number and could still recite it whenever he met someone.

After retiring, Bob and Mary Lou moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia to be near their daughter Michele. They became active in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church where Bob was president of the Men’s Club. They moved back to Monroe in 2013 to be closer to their grandchildren. Bob became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Monroe where he was an usher. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Norma Soncrant, his sister Sandra Soncrant Cantrell, his sons Jeffrey Marshall and David Marshall. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Soncrant, his siblings: Cheryl (George) Pouliot of Winter Park, FL and James (Donna) Soncrant of Moorhead, MN, his son Scott (Polly) Marshall of Monroe, his daughters: Denise (Richard) Hoctor of Fruita, CO and Michele (Lionel Kassel) Soncrant of Hampton, VA. His beloved grandchildren Katie (Zachary) Hemelgarn-Clouse, Kelli (Michael) Sims, Amy (Mark) Miller, Scott (Haley) Marshall, Kelsey Nuznov, Matthew (Alyssa) Marshall, Tyler Marshall, Amber Marshall, Stephanie Marshall and 15 great grandchildren.
