Ron Cassette

Ron Cassette, a beloved patriarch, devoted friend, and pillar of strength, passed away peacefully in his home in Southgate, Michigan, on July 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 3, 1944, in Lake Linden, Michigan, Ron spent his 82 years guiding, supporting, and loving those around him with a steadfast heart and a generous spirit.

Throughout his life, Ron was known for an unwavering dedication to his family. His daughters, Kim (Dave) McKenna and Michele (Bradley) Lukitsh, and his son, Joey (Kristen) Cassette, will forever cherish the strong values, warmth, and wisdom he imparted. His grandchildren—Nickolas (Carly), Paige, Tyler, Danielle (Christopher), Rylie, and Luke—were truly the light of his life, each a testament to the love Ron so freely gave and the legacy of kindness that endures through them.

Ron’s roots ran deep within a close-knit family. He is also survived by his sister Nancy, and brothers George, Tim, and Chuck, who together shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Diana, whose memory he cherished every day, as well as his parents, Wilfred and Alethea Cassette, his siblings Carolee, Marie, Terry, Danny, and Patrick, who all preceded him in passing. Each played a vital role in shaping the remarkable man Ron became—one who always valued family ties and the comfort of togetherness.

With a strong sense of duty and commitment to service, Ron answered the call of his country in the United States Air Force. His service stood as a point of pride his entire life, reflecting a sense of honor that he carried into every endeavor.

A hardworking sheet metal worker by trade, Ron's efforts and skills left a lasting impression on everyone he collaborated with. In his professional life, as in his personal one, he was admired for his integrity and work ethic.

Outside of work, Ron’s life was rich with passions and interests. He loved bowling and golfing, and he found great joy in running the P.L.A.V. Post #7. Many of his happiest days were spent on the course, at the lanes, or involved in the camaraderie of the Post community. A talented cook, Ron delighted in preparing meals and sharing good food, infusing each gathering with warmth and laughter. His ardent support for Detroit sports, especially Tigers baseball, often brought the family together—rooting for the home team, celebrating victories, and finding joy even in the defeats.

Those who knew Ron will remember his kindness and his unwavering sense of loyalty—to his country, his work, his friends, and especially his family. The stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he showed endure in every life he touched.

Friends and family are invited to honor Ron’s memory during visitation at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family Of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. During that same evening at the funeral home, there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:00 p.m., followed by a 4th degree Knights of Columbus chalice service at 6:30 p.m., then lastly, military honors being performed by the Downriver Veterans Honor Guard at 7:00 p.m. 

On Monday, August 3, 2026, Ron will lie in state at St. Pius X, 14101 Superior Street, Southgate, MI 48195, beginning at 9:30 a.m., with a Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. He will be inurned at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan alongside his wife Diana at a later date.

As we say goodbye to Ron Cassette, we remember a man defined by his love, generosity, and unwavering spirit—a life remarkable for the way it enriched the lives of others. His family and friends will forever hold his memory dear, carrying forward the values and love that Ron so deeply instilled in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
