Ross Paul Nelson, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2025. Ross was born on July 7, 1954 at Wyandotte Hospital. Ross graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1973. Shortly after graduation Ross moved to California where he married and had 2 children: Jeffrey and Elizabeth. He apprenticed and excelled in the floor covering trade. Ross moved back to Michigan in 1991 and continued working tirelessly until 2020. No one was better at flooring than Ross. No one he knew called anyone else for flooring.
Ross was a family man who lived to be with his children, grandchildren and all their friends. Known to everyone as “Papa” he loved doing everything with the kids. It was his joy to take the kids to the Mall, Caesarland, batting cages, go carts…whatever and whenever they wanted.
He loved trips up north to go 4 wheeling and boating. He loved camping and used to invite everyone to visit for his $6 steaks. Ross is survived by his son Jeffrey and wife Sabrina and his daughter Elizabeth; grandchildren Dominic, Olivia and Lydia. He was preceded in death by his brother Gregory and survived by his 2 sisters Shawn and Shelley; Stepmother Christine and Stepsister Barbara and husband Kelly and Stepbrother Robert. Nephews and Nieces are Courtney, Ryan, Jason, Kyle and Jeremy. There are many cousins and a large extended family who will also miss him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a funeral service at 6:00 PM at The Allen Park Chapel of Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. Ross Paul Nelson’s vibrant spirit and devotion to his family will always be remembered and celebrated.
