Sandra Ann Laginess, age 85, passed away on September 8, 2026.
Born on October 6, 1940 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Clyde and Ruth (Mead) Lattimore. Sandra lived a life marked by devotion to learning, service, faith, and the simple joys that bring comfort to a home and family. She was a graduate of Melvindale High School and went on to earn her Bachelor Degree from Wayne State University, an accomplishment that reflected her dedication and determination. Sandra married the love of her life, David Laginess, on October 5, 1963. Sadly, he preceded her in death August 28, 2019. She worked as a Medical Technologist serving in a profession centered on care and helping others.
Sandra also found happiness in the activities she loved most. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and reading, pastimes that reflected both her creativity and her quiet, thoughtful spirit. Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Gaylord Methodist Church and Fairgreen Presbyterian Church, where she played with the Bell Choir, sharing her time and talents in a way that brought beauty to worship and fellowship.
She is survived by her son, Fred (Anita) Laginess; her daughter, Julie (David) Moon; and her sister, Marilyn (Mike) Bennett. She also leaves behind the love of family and the memories they shared, which will continue to be cherished in the days ahead.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sandra was preceded in death by her sister, Gayle (Richard) Withey. Their memory remained an enduring part of her life, and now they are reunited in peace.
A celebration of Sandra’s life has been planned under the care of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes-Allore Chapel
Sandra Ann Laginess will be remembered with love for her caring heart, her faithful spirit, and the warmth she brought to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
