Shawn D. Wagatha, a cherished soul and a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on May 17, 1966, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to parents Dave Wagatha and Barbara Folco, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Trenton, Michigan. Shawn is survived by his son, Troy (Brittany) Wagatha. Cherished grandpa to Ryleigh, Kayden, Remi, Bentley, Levi, Lexi, Natalie, Mazie, and Rosie. Beloved brother of, Shelly McMillan, Shane Wagatha, and Kelly Loomis, and Sheena Wagatha. Shawn was predeceased by his son, Cody Wagatha, whose memory will forever remain a cherished part of the family tapestry Shawn so dearly valued.

Shawn dedicated himself to the mechanics industry, demonstrating unwavering commitment since 1993 as both a mechanic and a small fleet owner. His dedication not only shaped his career but also inspired those around him. He took immense pride in building his trucking company, a testament to his industrious spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence. One of his greatest achievements was passing his knowledge of the business down to his son Troy, who became his right-hand man, and best friend.

His generous heart and willingness to lend a hand extended far beyond his work; Shawn was known for fiercely loving his children and adoring his grandchildren. He embraced family life with passion, cherishing memories made during vacations spent in sunny Florida and adventures camping in his beloved camper. He found joy in the simplicity of the great outdoors, indulging in hobbies such as fishing and trying his luck at slot machines. He was a protector and provider; Shawn was loyal to a fault and held strong opinions that often made him the steadfast anchor for his loved ones. 

A visitation in celebration of Shawn's life will take place on March 1, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, let us hold dear the values he embodied and the love he so freely shared. Shawn will be deeply missed but shall live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
