Stephen Hagerman, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished soul, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Dearborn, MI. Born on November 4, 1935, Stephen's life was a testament to devotion, service, and love.
Stephen served honorably in the Army, embodying the spirit of dedication and courage. His commitment to his country was matched only by his unwavering devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Hagerman, and his devoted parents, Louis and Ethel Hagerman. Their memories live on deeply in the hearts of those who knew and loved Stephen.
Stephen is survived by his children: Stephanie (Michael) Thibodeau, Debra (Manoj) Rai, Allen (Leslie) Hagerman, and Mark (Jen) Hagerman, who carry forward his legacy with strength and grace. He was a proud grandfather to Holly, Kevin, Sarah, Adam, Alexandra, Joshua, Zachary, Benjamin, Siona, Mark, Shaelee, and Maeve, each of whom brought joy and light into his life. His family was further blessed by the presence of his great-grandchildren Henry, Harrison, Parker, and Winley, who filled his later years with boundless love and happiness. The devoted care of Theresa Norway, his caregiver, was an essential part of his journey, providing comfort and support with compassion.
A Mass celebrating Stephen’s life will be held on June 2, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, located at 19624 Wood Street in Melvindale, MI 48122. This gathering will honor the remarkable life of a man who touched so many with his kindness, strength, and enduring spirit.
Stephen Hagerman’s journey through life was marked by quiet heroism, steadfast love, and deep connections. Though he has left this world, the legacy of his character and the warmth he shared will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate to know him.
