Stephen Robert Souva

Stephen Robert Souva, 71, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026

Steve was born on August 12, 1955, to Robert and JoAnn Souva in Waco, Texas. Growing up in a military family, Steve had the opportunity to live in five different states and in England. While living in England, he traveled to six different countries, all before reaching junior high school.

Steve graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1973 and attended Lawrence Technological University for several years. He worked for various office installation companies and was a proud member of the Carpenters Union. He ended his career working for Halliburton in Afghanistan before retiring.

Steve was a member of the Flat Rock Elks Lodge #1731 and the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Souva; his parents, Robert and JoAnn Souva; and his brother, Scott Souva.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Bridgette (Dominic) King; son, Ethan Souva; brother Stanley (Po Hwa) Souva and Shawn (Vicki Rutekowski) Souva; sisters, Sharon (Jack) Warren and Sherla (John) Hill; and grandchildren, Zachary, Julianna, and Kendall King. Steve was also a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Steve will be remembered for his kind heart, his love for family and friends, and the way he lived life to the fullest. He had a language all his own, often giving the people and things around him their own special names. If Steve gave you a nickname, chances are it stuck, and those names will always bring a smile and a memory of him. Always willing to hand, Steve could often be found helping family and friends with remodeling projects, sharing both his time and his skills. He enjoyed attending concerts, cooking, golfing, boating, fishing, skeet shooting, playing guitar both on his own and in a band, singing, traveling, painting, and, most of all, spending time with family and friends.

The love, laughter, and kindness Steve shared will live on through his family and friends and the many memories they made together.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
