Steven E. Horchner, born on January 15, 1971, in Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in his hometown. He was 55 years old. Steven’s life was marked by steadfast dedication to family, learning, skilled craftsmanship, and a generosity that extended to both people and animals alike.
Steven was the beloved son of Carole Horchner and the late Gerald Horchner. His mother, Carole, survives him and was a constant source of support and love throughout his life. Steven is also survived by his sister, Lisa Lindsay; his brothers, Scott (Jackie) Kalisch and Greg (Erica) Horchner. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and great nephew, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Proud of his Monroe roots, Steven began his education at Zion Lutheran School and continued through Monroe Public Schools, building the foundations of a lifelong hunger for knowledge and practical skills. Demonstrating both ambition and dedication, Steven furthered his expertise by earning his Electrician Apprenticeship Certificate from Monroe County Community College in 2001, a milestone that marked his commitment to his chosen profession.
Steven will also be remembered for what he cherished in his personal time. A dedicated collector of Star Trek memorabilia, his collection was a tangible expression of curiosity, imagination, and a keen appreciation for the stories that inspire us. In addition to his love for Star Trek, Steven was deeply committed to supporting the Humane Society, demonstrating his compassion through active volunteering and advocacy for animal welfare.
Steven’s warm spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty enriched the lives of those around him. Friends and family alike benefited from his thoughtfulness and his willingness to offer help whenever it was needed. Steven’s memory will live on through all who knew him and the causes he championed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Horchner.
A life well-lived and a soul dearly missed, Steven E. Horchner leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and genuine connection. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by his family and friends, as well as those whose lives he touched through his work and volunteerism.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The Allore Chapel- Martenson Family of Funeral Homes. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date
