Click on the tribute wall above to view Steven's video tribute. Steven James Stapleton passed away on May 3, 2021, at the age of 63, after a courageous battle with COVID, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. In Wilmington, Delaware, Steve was born May 19, 1957, to Late Anna Sisk and Late Michael Stapleton. Steve graduated from Allen Park High School class of 1975 and was a proud lifelong Allen Park resident. Steve recently retired from US Steel (43 years) as a pipefitter and grievance man. Steve was happily married to Barbara (Froehlich) Stapleton, his first mate and life partner, for almost 26 years (May 13, 1995). Steve is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Steven II (Megan), Christina (Bradly); grandchildren, Grace, Leah, Steven III, and Ava; siblings, Gail, Late Michael, Richard, Lawrence (Shelley), Denise (John), Late David (Barbara), John (Sherry). Steve also leaves behind his many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Steve lived 1,000 years in the 63 years we had with him because he blazed through life with gusto. He grabbed it by the lapels, kissed it, and swung it back onto the dance floor. His personality, infectious smile, and sense of humor were contagious to everyone he met. Steve had the gift to gab and was known for his long-detailed stories, even when you didn't need to know all the details. His ability to make people feel appreciated was second to none. Steve made a point to remember everyone's name, and most of them had nicknames like Herby, Buford, Oscar, Tumbleweed, or Hotdog. Steve enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with the love of his life, Barb. During their travels, he'd make sure to bring home souvenirs from every hotel's housekeeping cart. They recently purchased their dream boat and planned to sail into the sunset together. He loved creating memories by spending time with his family and friends. Steve did this by hosting family parties, golfing, racing sailboats, attending hockey games and plays, cooking meals with the gourmet group, and never missing a social event. Steve was a loving and devoted father to Steven and Christina. He was also a proud grandpa of his four beautiful grandkids. He's known as being the funny grandpa who'd be repurposed as a surfboard when teaching his grandkids how to swim. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Allen Park Presbyterian Church. To those attending visitation and/or services at the funeral home for a loved one, in keeping with CDC and State of Michigan DHHS guidelines, masks and social distancing along with limitations on number of person(s) in the chapel must be followed and will be enforced. Thank you for understanding. Click Here to view Steve’s service. The live stream of the private service is being provided by Allen Park Presbyterian Church and will appear on their Facebook page on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:30 am.
