Sylvia Anne Vella

Vella, Sylvia Anne of Taylor, MI passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the age of 78. Beloved mother of Mike (Sherry) Saenz, Greg (Cindy) Saenz, Nicolas Saenz, and Bill (Terry) Saenz. Loving Stepmom of Kimberly (Scott) Beard, Brian Vella, Lisa DuCharme, and Robert Vella. Cherished Grandma of Alexandra, Ken (Casey), Randee (Josh), James, Jessica (Richard), Nico, Kyle, Casey, Brian, Gregory, Bradley, Skylar. Dear Great Grandma of Brendan, Kaiden, Jace, Sophia, Emma, Nicolaus, and Jameson. Loving sister of Joanne Volansky and Elaine Oswald. Sweet sister-in-law of Joan Murphy. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Charles Vella and her brother James Murphy. She will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends. In addition to being a wife and mother she enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse and retired from Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit. She was an active participant at Our Lady of the Angels church serving in multiple capacities including Eucharistic Minister. She and her late husband Charles, were founding members of, and she continued volunteering with Fish & Loaves as a board member, and coordinated Santa’s Forest fundraiser event every year. Visitation will take place on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes. A rosary will be held that evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Resurrection will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church located at 6442 Pelham Road, Taylor, MI 48180.
