Sylvia El-Tabche, a beloved matriarch, passed away on October 30, 2025, at Corewell Health Dearborn. Born on June 23, 1939, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Sylvia lived a life filled with warmth and spirit, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sylvia dedicated a significant part of her career as a Secretary for the United States Government, demonstrating her commitment to public service and her ability to contribute meaningfully to her community. Her personality was characterized by a unique blend of warmth and feistiness, which endeared her to colleagues and friends alike.
A gifted musician, Sylvia found joy in playing the piano and organ, sharing her love of music with those around her. Her faith was an important facet of her life; she was a member of St. Andre Bessette Catholic Church, where she nurtured her spiritual growth and fostered connections with fellow congregants.
After retiring, Sylvia took pride in becoming a Foster Grandparent, a role that exemplified her nurturing spirit and commitment to guiding and supporting younger generations. She cherished this accomplishment and the many relationships formed through this rewarding endeavor.
Sylvia is survived by her beloved daughter, Angelia G. Comer, and was preceded in death by her daughter Fredericka C. Hunter. She was a proud grandmother to Mercedes C. Baldwin, who brought immense joy to her life. Additionally, she is also survived by her cousins, other loving family and friends who will remember her fondly for her generosity of spirit and vibrant personality.
Sylvia now joins her late parents, Leslie Luther and Ellen and Eddie Comer, in eternal rest. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
