Theresa Palermo, aged 91, of Riverview, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 30, 1933, Theresa was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Her journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, deep compassion, and an infectious spirit that lifted those around her.Theresa began her career at the tender age of 16, dedicating herself to the cosmetology field. Her passion and talent earned her a large client base, and she eventually returned to school to become a cosmetology instructor. Her years teaching inspired countless students to follow in her footsteps. In the early 1980s, Theresa relocated to Florida, where she opened her own beauty salon, a dream come true for the vibrant entrepreneur. Despite her retirement at the age of 75, Theresa’s legacy in the world of beauty continued to shine.In her retirement, Theresa discovered a new passion for ballroom dancing at the Cape Coral Senior Center. She embraced this new love wholeheartedly, never missing a class or a dance, enriching her life with joy and movement. As she faced the trials of dementia and Alzheimer’s, her faith remained a steadfast source of strength. Even as memories faded, she held onto her love for the Lord, singing and praising Him, reminding everyone of the profound connection of her spirit. Her family cherished the moments spent playing "The Songs of Zion," witnessing her unwavering devotion and joy. Theresa is survived by her beloved children: Sharon L. Ferguson (Vernon), Linda S. Conger (Joseph), Sam V. Palermo, III (Dina), and Kevin R. Palermo (Sheila). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Joshua Conger (Marisa), Jennifer Lambert (Paul), Vincent Palermo, Anthony Palermo, Angelina Palermo, Billy Wolfe, Erica Palermo, and Shelby Palermo, as well as her great-grandchildren: Raina Tankersley, McKenzie Ash (Blane), Brenden Conger, Mia Lambert, Ethan Lambert, Dominic Palermo, Vincent Palermo Jr., Layla Palermo, and her great-great-granddaughter, Delainey Ash. She is also survived by her brothers Fredrick Bartuccio (Sue) and Dennis Bartuccio (Rose), who shared in her life’s journey. Theresa is preceded in death by her former spouse of 47 years, Sam V. Palermo, Jr., and her cherished granddaughter Lonna Tankersley and grandson Joseph Oliveri, and great-grandson Aiden Lee Conger. She was welcomed into the arms of her family in heaven, including her father Ross Bartuccio, mother Philomena Fallaro Bartuccio, and siblings Carl Bartuccio, Ross Bartuccio, Joseph Bartuccio, Irene Parry, Mary Manocchio, Albina Kukal, and Geraldine Gawronski. In reflecting on Theresa’s life, one cannot overlook the impact of her faith, which remained unshakeable even in her final days. Her family finds solace in knowing that she is now singing with the angels, free from the struggles of this life and enjoying the eternal peace she so richly deserves. They hold on to God’s promise of reunion, grateful for the time spent with her and the memories shared. Theresa will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, joy, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at 11 am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ: Creekside Branch, 12500 Plumbrook Rd., Sterling Heights, Michigan, 48312 where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
