Theresa Jean Secreto, born on April 26, 1956, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Phillip and Emma (Graham) Secreto. Theresa was a woman whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family defined her very being. On August 3, 2026, she peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a loving legacy and tender memories that will be cherished always.
From her earliest days in Detroit, Theresa’s life was a tapestry woven with love—marked by resilience and a steadfast commitment to those she held dear. She embraced each role in her life with wholehearted dedication, but it was as a mother that she truly shone. Her children—Christine (Charles) Tatum, Johnathan (Laura) Lawson, Tina Ely, and Vincent Emery—were the heart of her world. She supported and encouraged them through every stage of their lives, always their strongest advocate and most loving confidante. She also leaves to cherish her memory 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Sadly she was preceded in death by her parents and a son Joseph Lawson.
Theresa was a gentle presence, someone whose laughter could brighten the darkest day and whose compassion could comfort the deepest sorrow. She had a gift for making all who knew her feel special and unconditionally valued. Her wisdom was the kind passed down not only through words, but in the way she lived—generously, thoughtfully, loving with her whole heart. Whether through a reassuring embrace or thoughtful advice, Theresa’s support was tireless and true.
Though she is no longer physically with us, her memory endures in the lives she touched so deeply—felt every time a family story is shared or when those who loved her most gather together and carry on her traditions. Her loving spirit will continue to guide Christine, Johnathan, Tina, and Vincent, shaping their lives just as she always hoped she would. Theresa enjoyed doing ceramics, but her most treasured times were those spent with her family.
Theresa Jean Secreto will be dearly missed but never forgotten. The love she gave so freely lives on, a lasting testament to a beautiful life well-lived.
