Thomas J. Miller

Thomas J. Miller, who touched the lives of thousands through his dedication and passion for music and sports, passed away on September 15, 2025, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Born on May 6, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, Thomas was a beloved High School Band and Orchestra Teacher for over 40 years, and also served as a hockey coach, shaping the futures of many young individuals.

Thomas's career in music was marked by his talents as a professional musician, with accomplishments including performances in various genres such as polka, jazz, and classical music. His influences extended beyond the classroom and onto the stage, nurturing the love of music in countless students who would carry those lessons throughout their lives.

In addition to his professional commitments, Thomas was an ardent supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs, embodying the spirit of sportsmanship and enthusiasm as a passionate fan. He enjoyed the tranquil joys of hunting and fishing, finding solace and fulfillment in nature.

Thomas is survived by his family, including his children, David (Nichole) and Matt (Fanny), and he took great pride in being a grandpa to Melody, David Jr., Linda, and Annalise. He was also the cherished brother of Jerry (Lanette) and Jack.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Miller, and his parents, Fred and Eva.

A memorial gathering to honor Thomas will take place on September 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, Michigan. This will be followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. 

Thomas J. Miller's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and students, who will forever remember the profound impact he had on their lives.
