Thomas Nakielski, a beloved professional photographer and creative spirit, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on August 11, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Thomas enriched the lives of many with his loving, outgoing personality and a keen sense of humor that could light up any room.

A proud graduate of Michigan State University, Thomas earned his Master's degree, a testament to his dedication to his education and the arts. He later established his studio, "Light's on," in Lansing, Michigan, where he passionately captured moments that would resonate with others forever. His love for cultural arts extended beyond photography; he enjoyed visiting museums and immersing himself in various forms of artistic expression.

His service in the Vietnam War as a veteran shaped much of the person Thomas became. The experiences garnered during his military service fostered a depth of character that he carried into his civilian life, influencing both his art and his interactions with others.

Thomas is lovingly remembered by his family, which includes his sisters Barbara Sirois and Linda Papp, as well as his nieces Deborah Pringle and Jessica Papp and nephew Nelson Sirois, and numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maryann Modelski, and his nephew, Robert Papp.

Though he has left us, the legacy of Thomas Nakielski lives on through the lives he touched with his unique kindness, creativity, and unforgettable charm. His memory will remain a source of joy and inspiration to his family and friends.
