Violet Giasson was born on October 21, 1931 to John and Mary McComber on the Kahnawake (formerly Caughnawaga) Mohawk Territory located in Quebec, Canada. She peacefully passed away on October 19, 2022, just two days shy of her 91st birthday, surrounded by her children at her bedside. Violet is survived by her children Deborah, Charmaine, Donald, Jacqueline, and Joseph; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Andrew McComber.
Violet is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Andrew; her daughter Doris; her grandsons Curtis Giasson and Ramon Guzman; her great-grandson Noah Giasson; and her siblings Helen, Junie, Tommy, and Doris.
Violet truly enjoyed medical books, speaking her native language, and playing BINGO. She also loved thrift store bargain hunting and cooking, specifically known for making awesome spaghetti. She always stayed true to her Mohawk heritage and her catholic faith. Violet also prided herself in her very large family.
Visitation will take place on Monday October 24, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Allen Park Chapel. There will be a Native American Ceremony at 6:00 PM on Monday the 24th. The funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday October 25, 2022 at the Basilica of Sainte Anne de Detroit. The instate period begins at 9:30 AM, and Mass begins at 10:00 AM. Following Mass, we will be driving in procession to Woodmere Cemetery to witness the burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to please send plants or other items that they can cherish for the future.
