William "Bill" Achinger

William Charles Achinger Jr, age 87, of Woodhaven, MI, passed away July 17, 2025 in his home. He was born in Toledo, OH, December 6, 1937, to William Sr. and Marion (Jones) Achinger.

He graduated from Central Catholic HS in Toledo, OH, and the University of Toledo where he earned a BS in Civil Engineering. Throughout Bill's career, he was an Environmental Manager for the US EPA, the Wayne County Air Pollution Control Division and Chrysler Corporation. His responsibilities included air pollution control, solid waste management, Superfund clean-ups, and facility compliance programs. He was a member of St. Cyprian Catholic Church in Riverview, MI since 1973.

Model railroading, golf, and traveling were a big part of his retirement. He and his wife enjoyed many trips throughout the United States and internationally.

He is survived by his wife, Ann (Thompson), who he married on May 19, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, OH. He leaves a son, Mark (Deb) of Sylvania, OH, a daughter Linda (John Conz) of Ft. Wayne, IN, a son David (Tracy) of Shelby Twp., Mi, grandchildren Sara (Bryan Provines), John (Alli), Emily (Derek Van Dyke), Luke, Drew, Lucas, Christopher, and great-grandsons Nico and Ellis.

Friends may visit the family at the Trenton Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd. Trenton, MI 48183 on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Cyprian Catholic Church on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 10:00 am. He will lie in state at 9:30 am. Internment will follow at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in Bill's name may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the St. Cyprian Food Pantry.
