William “Bill” Kuehnel, born on December 23, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on June 8, 2026, in Allen Park, Michigan. A devoted flight instructor, Bill shared his passion for aviation with countless students throughout his distinguished career, guiding many to their dreams of flight with patience and expertise.

He was a devoted companion, deeply cherished by Lillie, who stood by his side with unwavering support. Bill was a loving dad to, Beverly (Kenneth) Ratliff and Debbie (Frank) Mannino. His legacy lives on brightly through his grandchildren: Roman Ratliff, Ethan Ratliff, Rosolino Mannino, and Dominic Mannino, who carry forward the spirit and love he imparted. He was also blessed with the companionship of numerous friends who held him dear.

Born to Anna and Harold Kuehnel, whose memories remain lovingly preserved in the hearts of those who knew Bill, he carried their values with him throughout his life.

Bill held a special place in his heart for the Detroit Tigers, reveling in the joy their games brought him. This passion for the team was a bright thread woven through his days, reflecting his enduring connection to his Michigan roots.

Family, friends, and all who knew Bill are invited to pay their respects during the visitations held at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, located at 10915 Allen Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. The first visitation will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., followed by a second visitation on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The celebration of William’s life will conclude with an interment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West Cemetery, 34224 Ford Road, Westland, MI 48185, on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Bill’s life was one of dedication—to his family, friends, students, and to the community around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, expertise, and a love for life that will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
