William Henry Leibengood, II
William Henry Leibengood, II, will always be remembered as a cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He died on October 31, 2025 peacefully, in his home, in Trenton, Michigan. William was born on October 10, 1967, and he was a man whose energy, spirit and joy brought light to everyone around him.
A proud graduate of Trenton High School, Class of 1985, William was a skilled mechanic, a family provider, and a muscle car faaaanatic. He was also a technical expert in the realm of automotive electronics systems. Throughout his long career at General Motors, then at Ford Motor Company, and then at BOSCH he was well-known for his patience, integrity, devotion, selfless and unwavering work ethic and his intelligence. And he was affectionately called Mr. “AAAAALLLLL RIGHTT!!” Leibengood - Bill, the guy over there with all the Red Wings stuff in his cube.
His true love, however, lay beyond the workplace. He was an eternally joyful soul, often referred to humorously as "Wild Bill.", with laughter that echoed throughout the building. He found happiness in the little things, especially helping others. Bill was a subject matter expert in anything to do with amateur radio formal traffic handling. He operated his amateur radio station and mentored others, and he explored. Bill never stopped fiddling with gadgets of all kinds, be it weather stations, battery -electric devices, etc. He was known as N8RWF to those who knew him on the traffic nets; he also enjoyed riding his bicycle. Bill was a licensed EMT. Bill was an expert weather observer and could interpret signs and identify conditions, and he dedicated time to community service alert communication during potential weather emergency situations.
William’s greatest pride was in being a father. He took immense joy in enriching the life of his son, William H. Leibengood, III. Watching his son thrive in karate and hockey was his cherished routine, filled with laughter, guidance, and positivity.
A devoted member of the Historic Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit, MI, William's faith grounded him. His capacity for kindness knew no bounds; He was generous. Always a beacon of hope for those in need, always seeing the good in a person, smiling, despite pain or fatigue. As a skilled mechanic, he readily lent a helping hand to friends and family, ensuring that no one faced car troubles alone.
William is survived by his beloved wife of ten years, Tara, whose heart he filled with love and laughter. He leaves behind a ten-year-old son, William H. Leibengood, III, who will carry forward the warmth and joy his father instilled in him. He is also survived by his loving brother, Jim (Kathy) Leibengood, and his adoring nieces and nephews: James, Jr. (Sabrina), Joel, Jessica, and John, along with cousins, aunts, uncles and a large host of Tara’s family members. His beagadore dog, Wolfgang, grieves terribly. He searches for Bill. Wolfie does not fully understand. At night and during the day time he howls, and he jumps into the car and refuses to get out as if we were going to go get Bill.
William is preceded in death by his devoted parents, William and Evelyn Leibengood, whose legacy of love and morals he carried throughout his life.
Though Bill has departed from this world, his laughter, kindness, and unyielding spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched. His life was a testament to joy, love, and community, and he will be dearly missed. Memorial contributions to honor his life will be used for his son’s education and may be made payable to Tara Leibengood. Private interment will be at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
