John was born in Detroit and raised in Trenton where he currently resides. He has a degree in Economics and a minor in Science from Albion College. John also went on to graduate from Wayne State University, Department of Mortuary Science. His memberships include St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trenton Rotary, Southern Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, National Funeral Directors Association, Michigan Funeral Directors Association, Chairman of Thomas Shumate Endowment for the Arts and Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club, the Southern Great Lakes Symphony and the YMCA. John and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons.

Jennifer graduated from Trenton High School and still resides in Trenton along with her husband, John, and 3 sons. In 2000, Jennifer was appointed to the Trenton Planning Commissions by the past Mayor. She was also appointed to the Board of Directors of the Downriver Guidance Center in December 2001-2003. She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trenton, and is a realtor with Carol Bollo and Associates.

Michael was raised in Trenton, MI and graduated from Trenton High School in 2008. He received a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Adrian College with a minor in Illustration in 2012 and received his Mortuary Science Bachelor in 2014 from Wayne State University. Michael currently lives in Trenton, MI with his wife Hillary, his daughter Lydia and his golden retriever Charlotte. He enjoys travelling and playing music as well as illustrating.

Ben is a fourth generation Martenson family member who is proud to have been born and raised in Trenton.  He graduated from Trenton High School in 2014.  Ben attended Western Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management. Ben also graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mortuary Science and he is a Certified Crematory Operator. In his free time, he likes to play golf with his family and friends; he also enjoys taking long walks with his wife Lyric and their black goldendoodle, Lux. A fact about Ben is that when he was not yet 2, he contracted meningitis and lost his hearing.  He was one of the first cochlear implant recipients in his age group back in 1997.  He feels privileged to be able to care for families during a loss of a loved one.

Robin and her husband, Nathan, attend Woodhaven Free Will Baptist Church.

He and his wife, Brandi, are proud parents of 2 children and are members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe. An avid outdoorsman, Tom is a State Officer for Duck’s Unlimited. He is a member of The Monroe Club and also has been an active volunteer for the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Monroe County and the American Red Cross.

She moved to Detroit after graduating from Gaylord High School in 2015 to attend Wayne State University where she received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Mortuary Science in 2018. She is a Certified Crematory Operator. In her spare time, Alayna enjoys downhill skiing, painting, and spending time with friends and family.

Mika was born and raised in the downriver area. She graduated from Flat Rock High School in 2008 and furthered her education by obtaining her B.S. in Mortuary Science from Wayne State University in 2014. Mika and her husband James have been married since 2016 and had their daughter Delaney in 2019 and she continues to be the apple of their eye. She enjoys spending time together as a family most of all, but Mika’s other interests include traveling, trivia nights, reading, true-crime shows and podcasts, and music. She is excited to start her new chapter here at Martenson Family of Funeral Homes.

Mackenzie was born and raised in New Boston, Michigan and graduated from Huron High School in 2017. She then attended Wayne State University where she graduated in 2021 with a Bachelors of Sciences Degree in Mortuary Science, a Minor in Health Care Ethics, and a certification to function as a Certified Crematory Operator. During her time at Wayne State, she was a member of the cheerleading team. Mackenzie enjoys spending her free time listening to true crime podcasts and watching documentaries, reading, visiting with family and friends, and spending time outdoors.

She and Ben have a four legged two-year-old named Luxembourg who doubles as her assistant.

Tom has been with the Martenson family since 1979. He graduated from Wayne State University, Department of Mortuary Science in 1980, and is a licensed Mortician/Funeral Director with the State of Michigan. Tom is a member of the National Funeral Directors Associaton and the Michigan Funeral Directors Association; serves Arbor Hospice & Home Care as a member of the Emeritus Board of Directors; formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Allen Park Chamber of Commerce; is a member and past President of the Kiwanis Club of Allen Park; is a member of the Father Saylor Knights of Columbus Council #3774; and is a member of Saint Frances Cabrini Parish. Tom and his wife, Gale, have three daughters and 10 grandchildren.  Tom and his wife Gale have been enjoying their retirement together.

Phae attended Henry Ford Community College where she received her Business Management degree. She is also a member of the Sports Car Club of America and is fulfilling her requirements to become a member of the Westshore Sailing Club. Phae has 4 children, 2 stepchildren and 11 grandchildren. She previously served as secretary and Commodored wife of the West Shore Sailing Club. She has also been with the Martenson family since 2002.
